Overrichness is a subtle disease. Those who have it are blind to what’s wrong and deaf to anyone who points it out.
—Rumi (1207-1273)
Rumi goes on to tell us that there is a cure for this disease – not at the societal level, but at the individual level. The cure is to sit quietly, to be silent. And your soul will begin to revive. To heal.
I could spend all day with Rumi. But in the very next verse, he advises “give up talking”.
I think I’ll spend some time in silent gratitude instead.
